As a part-time freelancer, I am not always immediately available to respond to your needs, so something that should take only an hour will usually have to wait overnight. I make up for this in two ways. First, I pass my low overhead on to you, providing quality product and service at rates well below the industry standard. Second, I will apply my detail-oriented focus to every aspect of your project. I keep your restrictions and the production methods in mind throughout the design process. You will never see a design proposal that cannot be produced, and you will not receive calls from your printer, supplier or service provider with concerns or problems with my materials or methods. In short, you sacrifice a small degree of immediacy in exchange for reassurance and value. Rates:After establishing what the end product is going to be and what resources are available, I will provide a quote for your job. The quote is based on a rate of $60 an hour. The quote is firm as long as the end product and resources do not change. Once a design concept has been approved, any substantial changes to concept or content will be considered extra work above and beyond the initial quote, and will be billed at an hourly rate of $60. I will not begin on any such additional work until I have discussed it with you and we agree to proceed. Depending on the size of the job and the anticipated duration and expenses, I might require partial payment after completion of pre-arranged steps within the design process. The final bill will be sent upon the delivery of the final product. Payment is due within one month of the billing date, with a 1.5% penalty per month added to the bill for late payment. Expenses: Any grammatical or spelling errors are the responsibility of the client. I will do my best to find and correct any errors, but you should not count on me to be your proofreader. It is always to your advantage to have your material spell-checked and proofread before it is sent to me. A mock-up will be provided to you for proofreading before any project is sent to production. In the case of a printed piece, a blue-line or color proof will be provided by the printer for a final review and approval. This is your last chance to correct mistakes! But at this stage, corrections will mean additional charges from the printer, and by me, if the changes require my involvement.
